Special foods for lactose intolerant

Calcium is one of the most important minerals for the body as it allows the bones and teeth of any person to develop perfectly. That is why those people who suffer from lactose intolerance have a big problem when it comes to finding foods that can replace dairy products. However, there are a number of alternatives to such products that offer a higher amount of calcium than dairy products themselves.

Foods that people who are lactose intolerant should eat

Oranges. As with citrus fruits, oranges are rich in vitamin C. However, and despite popular belief, they offer a greater amount of calcium to the body than vitamin C itself. A good glass of orange juice provides the amount of enough calcium that the body needs per day.

Blue Fish.  Oily fish is rich in calcium , especially salmon and sardines. These two types of fish are highly nutritious and beneficial to your health and provide the amount of calcium your body needs to function.

Tofu.  A product that you can take without problems if you are lactose intolerant and that offers you a large amount of calcium is tofu. It is a good substitute for cheese and is usually a food widely used by those who are vegan and have to replace milk with another product that contains calcium.

Nuts. Nuts are foods that, in addition to being very beneficial to health, have a high calcium content . A good handful of almonds or walnuts mid-morning provide the amount of calcium that you will need throughout the day.

Soy milk. You don’t have to drink cow’s milk to get some calcium. If you are lactose intolerant, a good option is soy milk, which provides calcium and is also quite healthy for the body.
