Normally, most people look for foods that help increase muscle mass to improve their body appearance, however there are also diets that allow you to reduce muscle mass and body weight. These diets are called hypocaloric, they consist of a diet with few calories but with the necessary nutrients so that the body can perform perfectly. This diet is based on foods that help satisfy hunger but with few calories. 

What to eat to reduce muscle mass

The basic foods in this type of diet are skimmed dairy products, eggs, lean meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. Carbohydrates should be eaten in small quantities and with a frequency of once a week. 

It is recommended to steam or grill and in this way benefit from all the properties of food. You should avoid frying and the use of oil and butter when preparing dishes. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it is mandatory to do it. At breakfast you cannot miss carbohydrates such as cookies, cereals or bread since they will provide you with the calories and energy necessary to start the day. 

Dinner should be much lighter than lunch since the metabolism slows down during the night and the extra calories are transformed into fat for the body. At lunch and dinner you should eat vegetables and foods rich in protein, such as lean meats, eggs or fish. For dessert, it is best to have a skimmed yogurt. 

It is totally prohibited in this type of diet, the intake of foods rich in fat or sugar, such as fried foods, industrial sweets or sauces. You should also avoid any type of alcoholic beverage.
