False myths about diet: too much sugar can cause diabetes

It is true that there is a very direct relationship between sugar and diabetes, but the myth that determines that diabetes is caused by a high consumption of sugar is wrong. There are many false myths about diet and nutrition, many of them refer to sugar. One of them is this and another well-known is the one that states that brown sugar is healthier than white. The consumption of sugar and foods high in this are never highly recommended, since this substance, in order to provide the body with nutrients, should be consumed in large quantities and these are, to say the least, advisable. 

Sugar does not cause diabetes

It is not the intake of sugar that causes diabetes itself, but the use of it in the body. What really causes this disease is the lack of insulin.  This is the hormone that is used to use the sugar we consume, if there is a lack of it, blood glucose levels will rise, which will trigger diabetes. Once diagnosed, the consumption of foods high in sugar should be controlled even more, since they are less recommended than normal. 

This type of food always favors overweight, which is directly related to the second model of diabetes. Everything depends a lot on genetics, but a healthy diet and daily exercise help a lot to control the appearance of this disease that is so serious for health. This can be avoided, but type 1 cannot, due to its early appearance. It depends much more on genetics than on lifestyle, even so you should always have a good diet and practice moderate and constant exercise to have a healthier life.
